Hello all!

My name is Mary Tiernan, and I am very excited to be serving as President of the ISA Rocky Mountain Chapter this year. I am currently the County Arborist for Boulder County Parks and Open Space in Colorado and spend most of my time in trailheads caring for the trees. Being relatively new to my career, I joined the executive board in 2024 to become more involved in our industry and to open the door to more networking opportunities. As a result, I have been able to work with some of the best and brightest minds in our field! So to anyone who has ever been curious about the board or even just knowing more about the Rocky Mountain chapter, please reach out. It is a fun and fascinating way to see how the sausage is made here at the ISA RM,C and we are always looking for new folks with fresh ideas to join our committees and to fill board positions as they open. As a board, we are looking forward to offering you as many learning opportunities as we can get on to the calendar in 2026, including classes and tests for the Certified Arborist certification, Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ), Prescriptive Pruning Qualification (PPQ), and maybe even a Tree and Plant Appraisal Qualification (TPAQ) class with the release of the 10^th edition of the Guide for Plant Appraisal! Stay tuned for updates. We will also be hosting numerous in-person educational events like the Women’s Tree Climbing Workshop and a Day of Safety, so keep an eye on the website and the newsletter for opportunities as they arise.

We also have official dates and location for the annual chapter conference! It will take place October 1^st and 2^nd at the DoubleTree Denver-Westminster hotel. We are currently looking for presenters so if you are interested, please reach out to [email protected] and throw your hat in the ring.

In other exciting news, the tree climbing competition is coming to Montana this year! It will take place at Pioneer Park in Billings, MT starting June 18^th through June 21^st.
